A few words of history...
Back when computers were still in their infancy, the number of lines in highly sophisiticated translations was added up and multiplied by 50 characters.
Types of documents
Sophisticated translations include technical descriptions, instructions for use, environmental reports, academic stuff, literary works, specialist publications, technical documentation, process specifications, medical test reports, chemical and physical abstracts, other documents that contain complicated figures, tables, maps, charts, arithmetical formulas and drawings, and many other uncountable documents of similar type.

Layout
 Our sophisticated translations are edited so that they look exactly like their source counterparts.
You pay neither for text layout nor for any other graphics such as figures, charts, and tables.
We call a translation sophisticated if a translator needs to have some specific knowledge to render a text in another language.
We believe it to be largely helpful if your translated copy looks exactly like the original, particularly when you sit at the negotiating table with your foreign partners. Each participant can have then his or her own language version of the same document. Considering what is now available in text processing, the formatting issue does not exist anymore. Surprising that others charge you for that.
1500 characters
One page of sophisticated translation consists of 1500 characters. Note that this is like you have typed 30 lines of text, 50 characters in each line. The number of characters is counted using words statistics software, and only letters and spaces between them are taken into account. There is no need to pay for blanks!
